| Microdermabrasion Microdermabrasion is a way to resurface and rejuvenate the skin and is one of the most effective non-surgical, anti-aging treatments you can receive. A minimally abrasive instrument is used to gently sand away dead skin cells removing the thicker, uneven, outer layer. This treatment helps to soften and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, smooth coarsely textured skin, decrease the appearance of acne scarring and helps reduce superficial hyper-pigmentation, also known as age spots. This technique also helps to thicken your collagen. Collagen is a protein in your skin that is abundant when you are a child and makes skin appear taut and smooth. Collagen production declines as we age, resulting in looser, uneven skin. There is almost no discomfort with microdermabrasion and there is no recovery or downtime. All treatments are followed with a nourishing, hydrating masque. Microdermabrasion is recommended for most skin types with the exception of skin that is highly sensitive or skin with vascular conditions such as rosacea.
